Works around campus

As we head towards the end of semester, many building and maintenance projects are commencing or ramping up across Bedford Park.

Flinders Train Station: car park 12 and Tonsley line

Over the next few weeks there will be increased activity as work is completed on Station Plaza – a new Flinders space adjacent to Flinders Station. Trucks will be moving through the area and it’s likely traffic management will be required while some construction activities occur. Wherever possible, disruption to traffic and pedestrians will be minimised.

Staff are asked to please take additional care with movement through the area, follow all directional and safety signage, and slow down – particularly around workers.

In preparation for the new station and extension to the Tonsley line, essential driver training along the new section to Flinders Station and testing and commissioning of the track will take place. Accordingly, the South Australian government advises there will be a partial closure of the Tonsley train line from the last service on Friday 20 November until early December.

Irrigation repairs near the central Lake

Early this week an excavator will be operating near the Lake from 7:30am to 3:30pm irrigation repairs are conducted. For safety reasons, there will be temporary fencing around the area while these works are undertaken.

Turf’s up

This Friday will see completion of the turf works in the north eastern corner of the Plaza.

Roof and stair works

Stair and roof safety works are currently being undertaken, which will result in some intermittent noise for occupants in the Engineering and Flinders Living buildings.

Sturt Library

The Sturt Library will have safe and secure 24/7 access for students and staff from 2021. As part of this access work, the existing 24/7 computer lab will be re-located, and the main entrance and staff area renovated.

To minimise disruption, this work is commencing after exams and should be complete by mid-January 2021. While works are underway, there will be a reduced number of computers available, some pedestrian diversions will be in place and there will be some general building noise. For those needing a quiet space, please consider using the Central Library as an alternative.

Car park 4 resurfacing

From Monday 23 November until 12 February 2021, there will be no traffic access to car park 4 while it’s resurfaced. Please avoid the area, and use the nearby car parks 2 and 5 over the summer break.
