New access rules to enter FMC

Flinders Medical Centre has advised the University of specific requirements which will apply to all people attending FMC facilities as part of the facility’s response to COVID-19.

This includes staff members who need to access a FMC facility for work – and the University has also communicated this information to students who need to access FMC.

Access

Access to Flinders Medical Centre has changed. Entry to FMC is no longer available at the rear Level 5 entrance. You should proceed to the Level 4 entrance, present your Flinders ID card, and complete the COVID-19 QR code check in. Signage will be in place to facilitate this directive.

If you do not have your Flinders staff ID card you will be treated as a visitor and be diverted to another entrance to follow the visitor entry protocol. Check here if you do not yet have your Flinders ID card, or you have lost it and need a replacement.

Restrictions regarding entry to healthcare settings

The State Government has implemented Emergency Declarations and Directions which include specific requirements for those working or entering all health care service settings, including hospitals.

FMC requires that all those who enter their facilities are reminded of these requirements and restrictions.  Please familiarise yourself with them before you attend an FMC facility.

All of the current declarations can be found on the SA.COVID.AU:COVID-19 web page. Current directives that are most relevant are:

  • Emergency Management Public Activities no.19 (COVID-19) Direction 2021.
  • Emergency Management Cross Border Travel no.39) (COVID-19) Direction 2021.
  • Emergency Management Supervised Quarantine Direction no.4 (COVID-19) Direction 2021.
  • Emergency Management Quarantine and Testing of certain former Victorian arrivals no.4 (COVID-19) Direction 2021.

Medi-Hotel workers and people who have been in Victoria or New Zealand are of particular concern for entry to hospitals at present.

Staff are reminded that you must not attend enter FMC if feeling unwell, experiencing a fever, chills, cough, sore throat, runny nose or shortness of breath.   This is the same requirement as applies to attending work at any location.

Stay up to date

Specific entry requirements may change depending on the changing COVID-19 situation and SA Health directives. Please watch out for general updates from the University, but we may also communicate specific notices regarding FMC access to you.  It is important you look out for these as they may impact your ability to access FMC facilities.
