Service One adds new and improved features

Service One – Flinders University’s central information and help portal – is continuing to expand its service offerings into 2021, with the recent introduction of Favourites, new and improved services, and a Staff Ideas Gateway.

The Favourites section that has been added to the Service One requestor portal contains two tabs to help you quickly access commonly used services. The ‘My recent items’ tab lists services you have recently used, so you can use them again with just one click, and the ‘Popular items’ tab lists currently trending services.

Other recently added services include allowing users to:
• Request for gift card
• Increase credit card limit
• Library support for accreditation
• Coursework scholarship opportunity
• Register – student travel insurance
• Cancel or replace a credit card
• Extend a casual
• Schedule instance(s) of livestream/recording of topic
• Reprocess a recording/issues with recording upload

Some of these new services have automated approval workflows, which means that when a new request is submitted, an approval task is then automatically generated inside Service One. This approval task will then be received by a Business Approver (such as your HR supervisor), a Finance Business Partner or other appropriate staff member, to approve before the request is then processed by the business area that delivers that service.

A Staff Ideas Gateway has also been added to the requestor portal, allowing staff to provide constructive feedback and ideas on any of Flinders’ services. Look for the light bulb symbol on the portal homepage, and send through your information, which will be directed to the most appropriate area of the University for them to follow up.

Service One is also continually enhancing and improving its services on offer. One of the most recent improvements is on the ‘Building and room access’ form, where requestors can now select their Business Approver from a drop-down list. This is a result of feedback received whereby the automatic HR system-selected approver is not always appropriate.
