A keen mind explains childhood glaucoma

The serious but often overlooked medical problem of childhood glaucoma will be explained for the next Meet the Minds: Lunchtime Virtual Lecture on Wednesday May 5.

Ophthalmology lecturer Dr Mallika Prem Senthil, from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, will be speaking on “Developing a patient-reported outcome measure for childhood glaucoma”.

Childhood glaucoma is a devastating condition for patients and their families. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent irreversible vision loss in children. The management of the condition can be difficult and visual outcomes can be poor. However, there is a clear lack of understanding about how affected individuals and their caregivers cope with childhood glaucoma and a lack of validated tools to assess the need for support.

The session, which will run from 12.30pm to 1pm on Wednesday 5 May, will be lived streamed and an interactive Q&A session will be facilitated by an MC to conclude the event. These online sessions are open to all staff and the broader community, so register via Eventbrite and share the link with your network.
