TIER arrangements strengthen MHA program

A new credit arrangement for the TIER (Transform, Inspire, Engage and Redesign) Leadership and Management Program has provided great assistance for Master of Health Administration students – and paved the way for a new influx of students to join and benefit from the program.

Adjunct Associate Professor Jennifer Hurley (Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer, SA Health) and Associate Professor Christine Dennis (Course Coordinator, Health Care Management at Flinders University) have signed the College of Business, Government and Law Credit Arrangement with the SA Health TIER (Transform, Inspire, Engage and Redesign) 12-month Leadership & Management Program.

This change provides SA Health TIER Program students with two topic credits towards the Flinders University post-graduate Health Administration awards, upon successfully completion of the TIER Program.

Associate Professor Hurley declared that “this is a very welcomed and outstanding recognition of our Program and a strong endorsement of the professional, intellectual and academic rigour of the Program, preparing nurse and midwifery unit managers to be future leaders across our healthcare settings”.

Associate Professor Dennis acknowledged that “this represents the culmination of collaborative efforts in fostering health care management and leadership development for SA Health nurses, clinicians, administrators, financial, technical and policy makers. Flinders University has been supporting academic and professional development of South Australia’s health care managers and leaders for over twenty years and we look forward to our continued and evolving efforts in developing contemporary, future-ready graduates”.

Details about the TIER Program – that aims to develop Nursing and Midwifery Unit Managers and those in leadership positions to build their capacity to more confidently and effectively lead and manage people and business operations within their workplaces – can be found here.
