IDS lunch celebrates Indigenous culture

To celebrate National Reconciliation Week, Flinders University’s Information & Digital Service team put on a lunch last week to raise awareness and celebrate Indigenous culture.

More than 100 staff attended, and heard from interim CIO Luke Havelberg, and the Honourable Kyam Maher MLC – the leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council and Shadow Minister for Aboriginal Affairs – who talked about the importance of reconciliation.

Senior Kaurna man Mickey O’Brien then told amazing stories, delivered a Welcome to Country and performed a Smoking Ceremony.

With food and drinks provided by indigenous companies, this was a successful event that was enjoyed by the whole team.
