Public Health forum serves as Young farewell

Next week’s College of Medicine and Public Health Forum will serve as a respectful farewell for the principal speaker, Professor Graeme Young, one of Flinders University’s great educators and researchers.

Having retired from Flinders University last year, Professor Young’s extraordinary career and professional contribution have subsequently been honoured with the title of Matthew Flinders Distinguished Emeritus Professor. We can look forward to being inspired by his insights during his visit to Bedford Park campus on 13 July for this special presentation.

Professor Young will deliver an address on “Keeping the Pipes Clean – five decades in the gut”.

Also on the College forum program, Professor Billie Bonevski will speak on “Public Health at Flinders University”. Having joined the College in March this year as Professor in Public Health, Professor Bonevski is a behavioural scientist and public health researcher of international reputation who is passionate about using research evidence to tackle chronic diseases and health inequities. In her presentation, Professor Bonevski will introduce the Public Health Discipline Group and speak to her aspirations for our Public Health programs and research.

The Forum will be held 1-2pm on Tuesday 13 July in the Health Sciences Lecture Theatre Complex 1.01, Bedford Park and can be accessed online.
