Examining sports clubs of the future

In the aftermath of his participation in Fearless Conversations and Meet the Minds online addresses, award-winning researcher Dr Sam Elliott from the SHAPE Research Centre will be convening the 2nd Youth Sport Summit (YSS) at Alere Function Centre on Thursday 2 December, from 9am – 3pm.

The aim of the YSS is to energise and inspire stronger partnerships between researchers and the sport industry. This year’s event theme is “Sporting clubs of the future”. The YSS event will include eight “TED talk inspired” guest presentations delivered by renowned researchers and industry leaders on the topics of sport and mental health; enhancing parent, coach and athlete experiences; and diversity and inclusion in sport.

Prominent research leaders from SHAPE will include Professor Murray Drummond (Director of SHAPE), Associate Professor Lucy Lewis, Associate Professor Ivanka Prichard, Associate Professor Shane Pill, Dr Deb Agnew and Jasmine Peterson, among a host of emerging Higher Degree Research students from Flinders University.

Dr Elliott will also launch an exciting initiative for the South Australian sports sector in partnership with the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing, the Sammy D Foundation, the Alcohol and Drug Foundation and C2M Marketing.
