Revamped MBA spurs Tori into action

Flinders University’s reenergised Master of Business Administration (MBA), with new course offerings and the added bonus of a significant staff discount, has encouraged Rural and Remote Health SA Program Manager Tori Edmonds to enrol in the course after years spent debating whether to embrace MBA studies.

“I had been thinking of studying my MBA for a while and when Flinders released its revamped MBA program, along with providing a staff discount, I knew it was an offer too good to refuse,” says Tori.

“I enrolled in the MBA Future Business to further develop my leadership and people management skills, while also hoping the qualification will progress my career.

“I’ve been really surprised to be learning about industry 4.0 and 5.0, which is ingrained into each topic.”

The flexibility of the MBA course, including an online option for study, also enticed Tori, who is based at the Flinders University Renmark campus.

“It’s great that the MBA courses are offered online, especially for people like me who might not be able to study the courses otherwise,” she says.

“I’m able to attend weekly workshops, which are interactive and engaging. Each topic also has a group assessment task, which has helped me connect with fellow students.”

The new MBA also features another unique learning opportunity for students with the Researching Markets topic, which pairs students with industry partners to develop and implement a solution to an industry-based issue.

“I’m currently undertaking the topic ‘Researching Markets’ where we are working with industry to conduct market research on potential new target markets overseas,” says Tori. “While this has been one of the most challenging assignments, pushing me outside of my comfort zone, it has also been a privilege to work first-hand with a CEO, to learn about their company and innovations.”

All Flinders University staff and alumni are eligible to receive a special discount when enrolling in the leading MBA course at Flinders.

In conjunction with obtaining a staff professional development fund contribution of $3,500, Flinders University staff can also apply for a 30% course discount for the new MBA courses. Terms and conditions apply, with some exclusionsSee the Flinders MBA website for full details.
