A busy time for campus upgrades

Works around campus this week include Anchor Court landscaping, Plaza lighting upgrades and temporary closures in car park 5 and Humanities Road. Please be aware that capital works across campus will increase in coming weeks, to coincide with the majority of teaching activities being completed for 2022.

Anchor Court landscaping

Works are underway to install drainage, irrigation, new lawn and new plantings in garden beds to improve the amenity of Anchor Court for everyone to enjoy. The lawn area will remain fenced for the duration of these works, which are expected  to be completed by mid-December.

Plaza lighting replacement

From Thursday 24 November, we’ll be replacing lighting in the Hub. Most of the work will take place between 7am and 4pm. There may be minor disruptions in these areas during these times, including noise and restrictions to pedestrian access. These works should be completed by mid-December.

Sewer works near Biology and Physical Sciences buildings

From Thursday 24 to Saturday 26 November, sewer works will take place in the landscaped area north of the Biology and Physical Sciences buildings. During this time, you may notice some odour, noise and reduced pedestrian access on stairs around this area (all stairs will remain open throughout but access may be reduced).

Car park 5 and Humanities Road temporarily closed until February 2023

Works to resurface Humanities Road and car park 5 have started. These affect the following areas:

  • Car Park 5 will be closed to all vehicles until early February 2023. Please follow construction signage and make use of adjacent nearby car parks – 1, 2 or 4.
  • Humanities Road will be closed for periods during these works.
  • Access to parking behind the Library will be restricted for periods during these works.

Water outage – Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 December

Maintenance works on water services will result in a water outage for buildings at North Ridge and South Ridge throughout the weekend of 17-18 December. The following services will be affected:

  • Tap water
  • Toilet flushing
  • Showers
  • Any equipment requiring water
  • Air conditioning
  • Humidifiers

Back up portable toilets will be available at the southern end of the Plaza and in front of the Sports Centre.

A second planned weekend outage for the IST and Engineering buildings, on 14-15 January 2023, will impact the same services. These works will not impact fire services.
