Novel approach is best in show
Associate Professor Harriet Whiley won the Best Paper Award at the 2023 National Conference by the Institute of Healthcare Engineering, Australia. Her winning presentation on “A novel approach to monitoring Legionella and water quality in hospital and healthcare water distribution systems” explains a collaborative research project conducted with Enware Australia. The project used the Smart Flow® monitoring system to identify water flow and temperature conditions that support Legionella growth, particularly VBNC Legionella that cannot be detected using the standard method.
Expert applauded for stellar leadership
Dr Ganessan Kichenadasse has been recognised for his role as the inaugural Lead of the Statewide Cancer Clinical Network. Established in 2020, the network brings together health professionals and consumers to provide strategic guidance and advice relating to cancer care and work on projects that improve health outcomes for all South Australians affected by cancer. SA Health’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Michael Cusack thanked Dr Kichenadasse for his considerable contributions in an email to all staff, and looks forward to continuing to work with Dr Kichenadasse on improving outcomes and experiences of cancer care for South Australians, through his clinical and research roles at Flinders University.
International recognition for contributions to law
Professor Sharyn Roach Anleu has won the 2023 Law and Society Association International Prize in recognition of her significant contribution and advancement of the field of law. Professor Roach Anleu’s significant publication record in multiple fields, as well as her dedication to the advancement of knowledge through enthusiastic and unwavering service work, saw her recognised in these annual awards.
