Flinders horror film team earns US plaudits

Locally-made horror movie You’ll Never Find Me, made by and featuring a host of Flinders University film graduates, has enjoyed significant international success after recently being launched at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

It marks a significant success for the directors Josiah Allen (BCreatArts(Screen)’17) and Indianna Bell (BCreatArts(Screen)’17) and their company Stakeout Films. This dynamic duo have already been two-time Austin Film Festival winners – firstly in 2019 with their short film Call Connect, and in 2021 with The Recordist – and they also won Best Directing Award and the Young Filmmakers Award at the 2019 SA Screen Awards.

One of the lead actors of You’ll Never Find Me, Brendan Rock, is also a Flinders drama graduate (BCreatArts(Hons)(Drama)’03).

The movie has so far received a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes from reviewers. One review states: “Horror is such a versatile genre, and when it finds its sweet spot, it can be electrifying, emotional, and chilling in equal measure. You’ll Never Find Me is all of these things and more, and its ending will evoke such a visceral reaction of shock and awe. Directed by Josiah Allen and Indianna Bell (who also wrote the screenplay), You’ll Never Find Me is an intimate story, one that is carried by an intense ongoing exchange between two characters that will rattle your nerves and keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.”
