Professor Sharon Lawn

Professor Sharon Lawn has been invited by the Federal Minister for Health and Aged Care, the Hon Mark Butler MP, to join the Mental Health Reform Advisory Committee, which will guide consultation and engagement with the sector and people with lived experience of mental illness, and help shape the future of mental health reform. Minister Butler will Chair the Committee, working with the Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, the Hon Emma McBride MP. Professor Lawn was invited to join the committee due to her knowledge, skills and highly-informed perspective that will ensure reforms are robust and well-considered resulting in a more integrated, comprehensive and equitable mental health system.

Associate Professor Alice Gorman has been named one of the finest voices in Australian science writing. The Best Australian Science Writing 2023 – an annual collection from NewSouth which is now in its 13th year – celebrates individuals whose exceptional science writing offers fascinating insights into our surrounding environments, inspires awe at the wonders of the natural world, and also seeks to understand and address some of the biggest problems of our time.

Flinders graduate is a world champion

Flinders graduate Sarah Klau

Flinders graduate Sarah Klau (BHlthSc ’13) is part of the Australian Diamonds netball team – which became 2023 World Champions after beating rivals England 61-45 in the World Cup decider over the weekend. Sarah played six games throughout the series, notching seven intercepts, eight rebounds, one general play turnover and 23 deflections along the Diamonds’ road to victory.
