Conference to improve youth sport

The inaugural National Youth Sport Conference is being hosted by Flinders University on November 16-17 at Tonsley Campus – an important development following Flinders’ recent partnership announcements with the WBBL Adelaide Strikers and the launch of the new Diploma in Sport Business with Adelaide United.

The national conference will provide a comprehensive two-day program for academic researchers, Higher Degree Research students, industry organisations and government delegates to exchange new knowledge and enhance the developmental, social, political, psychological and performative dimensions of youth sport.

The program is headlined by Professor Jean Cote (Queens University, Canada), Professor Camilla Knight (Swansea University, Wales) and Professor Rochelle Eime (Federation and Victoria University, Australia), and will be opened by the Hon Katrine Hildyard MP, Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing.

Conference convenor Associate Professor Sam Elliott, from Flinders’ College of Education, Psychology and Social Work, is delighted that Flinders will play host for this inaugural event.

“As we embark on a green and gold decade leading to the Brisbane 2032 Olympics, there has never been a better time for researchers and industry leaders to work together to improve outcomes for all involved in youth sport,” says Associate Professor Elliott.

“Our conference program brings together academics and HDR students from across Australia and the world, highlighting the expansive reach and impact of sport-related research.”
