US delegation comes to Flinders

A delegation from The University of Rhode Island (URI) came to Flinders last week, as part of our partnership to deliver nuclear engineering and science programs in South Australia.

The historic partnership between these two institutions ensures that Flinders can deliver a comprehensive suite of the world’s best nuclear education, with the ability to rapidly scale up course offerings in line with changing industry needs.

The visiting delegation included key URI personnel Dr Jim Miller, Professor and Department Chair, Ocean Engineering; Dr Kristin Johnson, Vice Provost for Global Initiatives; Dr Bahram Nassersharif, Distinguished University Professor, Mechanical, Industrial and Systems Engineering; and Colonel Erik Brine, Director, URI Defense Sector R&D Initiatives and Operations.

These US visitors met with a range of Flinders staff and researchers to discuss fields of mutual interest and strengths, and examine how work being done here and in the US will help Flinders become the home of nuclear education in Australia.

The visit also provided Flinders with an opportunity to introduce URI to some of our key partners in Australia, to explore further research and development opportunities.
