As staff across Flinders prepare for a well-deserved break during the festive period, some campus services will also be taking a break or operating on a reduced schedule at this time.
To provide an overview of what services are available during this time, check out the list below.
If you have any questions or concerns about campus services during the summer break, please raise a Service One request and the customer service team will assist.
Security
Security will be available 24/7 throughout the break.
If you require Security, please call 8201 2880, or 000 if it’s an emergency.
Information and Digital Services (IDS)
IDS will be operating with a reduced number of staff from Friday 22 December 2023 through to Tuesday 2 January 2024 (inclusive).
During this time, staff will still be available to ensure continuity of services.
The IDS Service Desk will be closed from 1pm on Friday 22 December 2023 and will reopen at 8am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.
On Thursday 28 and Friday 29 December, IDS will undertake work to migrate all Shared (S) Drives to new infrastructure. Staff are asked to refrain from accessing files stored on the Shared (S) Drive during this time.
Food retailers
During the summer break, most retailers will trade with reduced hours and the opening dates below are subject to change.

Library
Library branches will continue to be open 24/7 via ID card access. Library staff support and Service One assistance will take a break over the university closure period and will resume on Tuesday 2 January, with a reduced capacity until Monday 8 January. Post office
The post office will close at 5pm on Friday 22 December 2023 and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.
Pharmacy
The Pharmacy at Bedford Park will be open throughout the break, except on public holidays.
Travel insurance
The Risk and Assurance team will be taking a break from Friday 22 December 2023 to Saturday 13 January 2024. If you are intending to travel during this time, please be sure to organise your travel insurance before Friday 22 December.

Note – during the break there may be some route changes as we explore alternative ways around campus, please keep an eye out for signage at the bus stops detailing any changes.

Cleaning
Cleaning services will pause from Friday 22 December resuming on Monday 8 January. If there is an urgent request for cleaning during this time, please call Security on 8201 2880.
Please remove all perishable items from fridges on or before Friday 22 December, any items remaining in fridges will be disposed of by our cleaning team.
Customer service
Our customer service team and University general query call centre will operate until 1pm Friday 22 December 2023, returning from 9am on Monday 8 January 2024. During this
time, Service One requests will not be monitored and incoming requests will be actioned week commencing Monday 8 January 2024. Urgent service requests should be phoned through to Security.
Our face-to-face service point at the Professional Services Building will be closed from 1pm Friday 22 December 2023 re-opening Monday 8 January 2024.
Campus mail deliveries/collections will pause from Friday 22 December 2022 to Friday 5 January 2024 inclusive. If you are expecting a delivery or have a query, contact Service One prior to 1pm 22 December and arrangements will be made.
Mail and courier items not delivered will be stored at PFD Operations and will be distributed from the week commencing 8 January 2024.
Student advisors
The Student Advisor team will be on deck throughout the break (not including public holidays) with reduced hours from 9am – 5pm.
