FUMA launches its next exhibition

Flinders University students and staff are invited to experience unearthed contemporary art treasures as Flinders University Museum of Art (FUMA) launches its latest exhibition, ‘Between the Details: Video Art from the ACMI Collection’.

The exhibition, which runs from 19 February until 19 April, presents five captivating moving image artworks by esteemed Australian artists Kaylene Whiskey, Jason Phu, Deborah Kelly, Zanny Begg and David Rosetzky.

It is a touring exhibition put together by ACMI, Australia’s national museum of screen culture, located in Fed Square in Melbourne.

Working in video offers artists an opportunity to use editing as their primary technique; mixing and matching elements from other films or their own work to tell new stories. The works in this exhibition all demonstrate an irrepressible desire to bring deep themes to the surface with humour and an incredible attention to detail – and in the process this exhibition celebrates ACMI’s vibrant collecting and commissioning program.

Flinders screen and media studies expert Dr Claire Henry will kick off the exhibition launch with an informative talk about the works at 2pm on 21 February, followed by a gathering with light refreshments.
