Doctor of Medicine Rural Stream (MDRS)

MDRS students continue to settle well in their placements within GP clinics and hospitals and, are demonstrating flexibility and resilience in their capacity to learn within the changing COVID environment. Unfortunately, some specialist placements were cancelled due to elective surgery restrictions, however, this was to be expected.

We are looking forward to receiving the final report and recommendations from the MDRS Evaluation that has been undertaken by Dr Nicola Parkin. The evaluation has two key objectives;

  1. to richly describe the MDRS learning experience, and
  2. to recommend ways in which the MDRS learning experience might be improved.

Input from evaluation participants plus targeted stakeholders will provide a payer of perspective-taking on the results so far, and inform the report’s discussion and final recommendations which will be presented to the Steering Committee in April 2022.
