The Remote Health Experience is an annual event for health professional students in Katherine. The NTMP Yr1 medical students join Aboriginal Health Practitioners, nursing and allied health students for a series of sessions exposing them to the remote context, acute care skills and Aboriginal cultural experiences. The students began to appreciate life in a family and skin system intricate in how it guides appropriate relationships and avoidance relationships. We made bush medicine for eczema and coughs and had an opportunity to hear perspectives from the Banatjarl Strongbala Wimun Grup.
The NTMP is exploring other opportunities to extend the student experience to incorporate the breadth of context and will combine again with our health professional colleagues in a Very Remote Health Experience in Tennant Creek later in the year.
Lastly, check out Doctors of the NT profiling numerous colleagues prominent in learning and teaching in our medical program. It is fabulous to showcase their enthusiasm and passion.
