Major Incident News

Intended audience: IDS staff

We are six weeks into the process of changing the way that IDS responds to major incidents. During this time, we have responded to several major incidents that have given us an opportunity to test the new process. We have been working to standardise and simplify the creation of major incident reports and make sure that we have a plan for how we work together to respond effectively to major incidents. The next steps will see some changes for operational staff.

Why am I being added to that Team?

We will be using MS Teams as our primary collaboration tool for Major Incidents. It offers instant messaging, file sharing, voice and video chat for an incident bridge or ad hoc meetings when required. Operational staff within IDS will be added to the team, and when a major incident is declared, a channel will be added for collaboration and updates. If you would like to join the team, please click here.

Regular Incident and Problem Review Meetings

We will be scheduling regular meetings with representatives from all operational areas in IDS that will provide an opportunity for operational staff throughout IDS to review and update progress on:

  • Open problem records and update progress
  • Outstanding major incident remediation actions
  • Incident trends and potential problems
