As part of an exciting and innovative partnership with Flinders University, 2nd year students have this year had the opportunity to attend cooking skills workshops at the state-of-the-art facilities of Sprout Kitchen in Hilton, Adelaide which opened in 2014.
While we have always provided practical classes to students, which aim to teach them basic cooking skills and recipe modification, this new venture has also allowed them to explore their creative side which has been encouraged by Themis Chryssidis and Callum Hann, Directors of Sprout.
APD Themis has also provided placements to final year Community and Public Health students who in addition to presenting a number of food literacy sessions to the public also undertook projects related to understanding more about how food retailers support people with particular dietary needs. Students also investigated the nutrition knowledge of food retailers and suppliers.trition and Dietetics are excited to explore the possibilities of this partnership in years to come.
