We are delighted to announce that we are the proud recipients of Australia Awards Fellowships grant funding for 2017 entitled ‘Improving health by capacity building of the nutrition workforce in Jogjakarta (Indonesia)’.
Australia Awards are prestigious international Scholarships and Fellowships funded by the Australian Government. Australia Awards Fellowships build capacity and strengthen partnerships between Australian organisations and partner organisations in eligible developing countries in support of key development and foreign affairs priorities. By providing short-term study, research and professional development opportunities in Australia, mid-career professionals and emerging leaders can tap into Australian expertise, gaining valuable skills and knowledge.
Fifteen nutrition and dietetic fellows from Jogjakarta, on the island of Java, Indonesia, will attend a 3 week course in Adelaide to strengthen their capacity in clinical placement education and health service provision in the areas of maternal and child nutrition and chronic disease management. The fellows include academics from University of Gadjah Mada (UGM) and practitioners from both the hospital and community setting who supervise UGM students on placement. The course will run from 6th to the 24th of February.
We are interested in partnering with student placement settings and have some offers from hospitals but would be keen to investigate opportunities for the fellows to engage in community/public health settings. If you would like to be involved please contact Dr Jacqui Miller at Jacqueline.miller@flinders.edu.au
