About 6 or 7 weeks have passed since I first arrived in Australia. Everyone always told me my time abroad would go by fast, but I’m just now realizing how fast time flies. While my time has been flying by, I have finally gotten into a routine here. I got all my friends, roommates, and settled into all my classes. I have certain places I go out to regularly, and even started to learn how to cook for myself. It feels like I’ve been on vacation for the last month and a half. I don’t have to work and classes are really easy. They record all of the lectures and I only need a 50% to pass, which I’m not used to. Then when you include all the tropical birds and animals running around, it really feels like a vacation. Life is good. The only things I’ve had trouble getting used to are not living on an American college campus, and getting a little homesick. I know living on campus here just takes some more getting used to the rules and lifestyle. Then the homesickness comes and goes. It helps to keep active and focus on future adventures. One little adventure I was able experience was Sydney. I traveled to Sydney last weekend and had a great time. A lot of other tourists, but it’s a beautiful city with a lot to do. Every city seems a little bit better when you can legally drink there too. I also stayed in a hostel for the first time. They’re not as creepy as I expected them to be. Mid semester breaks coming up. Hopefully I’ll be able to go to the Great Barrier Reef and Cairns in a couple weeks. I’m ready for warm weather and some sun. I’ll make sure to update everyone about my mid semester festivities in my next entry.
