See ya later Adelaide!

Hi everyone!

This is the last time I will be writing a blog. The semester is coming to an end and I am finishing my last assignments and projects before the exam period starts. Although, to be honest, at Flinders I did not have to study as hard as I normally do in the Netherlands. Actually, that is not really a bad thing for exchange students, haha! That way I have had plenty of time to discover the city of Adelaide and the Australian lifestyle. I still have some trips planned within the last month, such as kayaking, going camping and the 1st of June I’m going to attend my first footy match, I’m excited!!

When living here, I learned some interesting culture differences between Australian and Dutch people. Sometimes they didn’t understand my frequent sarcasm and I had to apologize for it haha. Dutch people are also a little more direct when communicating. I have a lot of respect for the Australian culture, I treasure the tranquil lifestyle and the sincere interest that people have in others. Australians are so nice and easy-going, I definitely will come back one time! But in a few weeks it will be time for me to leave…

Flinders University is such a different university compared to Utrecht University, all those hills (every day was legday, literally). Haha, but the university is absolutely beautiful! Many (study)spots with wonderful views over the city, the Hub is perfect for having lunch and when I really do need to study the Central Library is a good place for studying in peace (when my roommates are too noisy heheh, they bake nice cakes though).

I had a wonderful time living on campus. I am so grateful for meeting all these loving people and going on several adventures. Studying abroad is the best experience I’ve had so far, I definitely recommend to go studying abroad if you have an opportunity to do so.

Cheers mates,

Thanks Flinders University and Adelaide for a wonderful time!
