Celebrating our great teachers

We are bringing more practitioner and clinical experience into the classroom by investing in 130 academic positions for Teaching Specialists across the University. This will help reduce our reliance on casual teachers as well as provide a stronger career path for academics focussed on excellent and innovative teaching.

I am delighted that over half of the new Teaching Specialist positions have already been filled by current Flinders academics, and recruitment is now underway for the remaining roles.

At a recent networking event I had the pleasure of speaking with these academics, and was impressed by their energy and passion for student learning.

Their outstanding achievements in teaching were further recognised through the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Teaching Excellence and Teaching Innovation, and just last week Flinders staff were successful in winning three national awards at the Australian Awards for University Teaching.

A big congrats to all our award winners.
