Topic Rollover in FLO – make sure your videos “roll”

Are you thinking about your Semester 2 FLO topics yet? The Online Learning and Teaching (OLT) team are and would like to encourage all Topic Coordinators and other teaching staff to make sure all videos created for teaching in 2020 are ready to be rolled into 2021.

So, what do you need to do?

To ensure that all 2021 teaching team members have access to topic video content, all 2020 topic video content needs to be added to the 2020 topic Media Vault, before OLT teams start the Semester 2 2021 topic rollover process. A step-by-step guide to doing this is available in the FLO Staff Support site – see the Option 3 entry for Video – manage topic video content with the Media Vault (Kaltura). In addition to rollover, there are other benefits to storing topic videos in the Media Vault.

If you plan on rolling your topic content from a 2021 teaching site you will need to complete this prep work in the 2021 site rather than the 2020 teaching site.

Please make sure you have added your videos to the topic Media Vault in your Semester 2 2020 topics, or 2021 teaching site, by 15 April 2021, to ensure they are able to be rolled into your Semester 2 2021 topic. You’ll receive a confirmation email when your FLO topic site has been rolled. For topics that are not rolling (eg. EPSW) it is still important to add your videos to the Media Vault as the EPSW OLT team are able to transfer these to your 2021 starter site topic.

Some key dates

  • 15 April 2021: Deadline for adding videos to topic Media Vault.
  • 22 April 2021: OLT teams start their Semester 2 rollover work.
