Local event marks new Flinders sculpture

Flinders is holding a special event in parallel with the unveiling at Euston Station in London of a major sculpture of Matthew Flinders to commemorate the bicentenary of the navigator’s death in 1814.

The event will be held at Flinders University Victoria Square on Saturday, 19 July from 3.30 to 5pm. Direct descendants of Matthew Flinders will be attending and there will be a screening of footage direct from London of the unveiling, as well as a display of items from the University’s special collections.
