GGAFlinders was part of a winning team at the recent Green Gowns Awards, the annual prize presentation by Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability held in Melbourne

The awards acknowledge the most inspirational projects dedicated to sustainability from across the tertiary sector in Australia and New Zealand. From 43 finalists from 22 instituions, 11 Awards for Excellence were made.

Flinders University was a collaborator in  the Sustainability Consortium for Learning Standards, led by the University of Newcastle, which won the Learning, Teaching and Skills category for building a national consensus on learning standards in tertiary sustainability education.

Involving collaboration from industry, professional associations, government, indigenous groups, environmental/sustainability organisations, researchers, sustainability educators and students, the framework took 12 months to develop and involved more than 250 contributors providing over 2,500 pieces of advice.

The joint project was successful in identifying and articulating the knowledge, understanding and skills essential for graduates from tertiary programs in sustainability, creating a framework that aligns Australia with international best practice.

Other members of the consortium were the Australian Council of Environmental Deans and Directors, Australian National University, Macquarie University and the University of New South Wales.
