Sports stars boost Flinders’ athletic standing

A record number of students are currently enrolled in the University’s Elite Athlete Program, boosted by a new round of sports scholarship winners who will be welcomed at an event on 24 April 2018.

The many 2018 Sports Scholarship winners include Ebony Prelc (para-swimming) who is from Penola and used to travel to Mount Gambier to train. Now based at the University, she is able to train with the Elite Athlete Development Squad based at nearby Immanuel College.

Semi-professional cyclist Tom Chapman was another winner, who will be heading on a European tour mid-year and hopes to qualify for a tour in the United States later in the year. He plans to continue his study online while competing abroad.

Sisters Sarah and Jessica Allan from Millicent were also among the scholarship winners. They both play in the AFLW for the Adelaide Crows.
