Assessing leadership and opportunities in Education

Professor David Giles will mark the release of his latest book Relational Leadership in Education: A Phenomenon of Inquiry and Practice with a public launch event at Flinders at Victoria Square from 5.30pm on Thursday 15 November.

Published by Routledge, Professor Giles’ book is a reminder of relationships as the essence of leadership. The retiring Professor of Educational Leadership and former Dean of the School of Education at Flinders University, says the book will be of interest to experienced, emergent and aspiring educational leaders and researchers.

The launch will be teamed with a public lecture by Emeritus Professor John Halsey about “Reviewing and re-calibrating relationships for building hope and opportunities”. The former Professor of Rural Education and Communities at Flinders University will speak about a national review he conducted in 2017 on schooling in regional, rural and remote Australia, and changes needed to improve achievements and opportunities.

In his report he identified specific actions needed to bridge the gap between the achievements and opportunities of rural and urban students.

Tickets for this free event can be booked online.
