Brighton Secondary’s victorious F1 in Schools model racing team, Horizon, visited Tonsley in November to present on the development of their outstanding vehicle, and tour the state-of-the-art facilities at the Flinders’ innovation hub.

Horizon, sponsored by Flinders University, has enjoyed great success this year, first becoming the Australian National Champions in March, then travelling to Singapore in September where the team took home the title of 2018 World Champions.

Following the students’ presentation, they enjoyed a ride on Aurrigo’s autonomous vehicle, Pod Zero, and a hands-on robotics programming workshop as part of the interactive tour.

The industrious Brighton students beat finalists from 49 others schools representing 22 countries to win the competition. Their impressive victory included winning the Best Engineered Car Award and also the Fastest Car Award.
