Professor George Crowder has been elected as a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia.

The prestigious honour recognises social scientists who have made distinguished contributions in advancing research knowledge and developing new approaches.

Professor Crowder was formally welcomed to the Academy at its annual symposium in Canberra on November 12 -14, where he was congratulated by other Fellows including Flinders Professor Sharyn Roach Anleu, Professor Adam Graycar, Emeritus Professor Norm Feather, Emeritus Professor Sue Richardson and Emeritus Professor Keith Hancock – who work across three colleges –Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences; Business, Government and Law; and Education, Psychology and Social Work.

Emeritus Professors Richardson and Hancock are also past presidents of the Academy.
