First release of Student Portal next week

The  first release of the new student portal will go live this month, reflecting the aims of the University’s Compass Program to streamline and improve how students find, access and engage with the many supports and services offered at Flinders.

The Compass Program and the Student Experience team have been working in partnership with students across the University and the Student View Group to understand student pain points and set priorities for the program, with a focus on improving student experience, enhancing students’ sense of belonging to the University community, and ultimately increasing their success. The teams have also worked with many of the business units that support students to ensure a collaborative approach in the development of a digital solution (Student Portal) to address the specific challenges identified.

With the first release of the new Student Portal (students.flinders.edu.au), staff and students will see:

  • A fresh new student-centric look and design making it easier for students to navigate the website.
  • A Support and Services directory  with services from across the university pulled into one central place, making it easier for students to access and engage with them.
  • A ‘Get Involved’ feature that links to an overview page with details on all the ways students can get involved in their University community, to help increase their sense of belonging.
  • A My systems  feature that will link to other University systems students use the most, eg. FLO, InPlace, VPermit etc (with students having the ability to edit these as preferred).
  • My Course, My Campus, News, Tips, Quick links, Key dates and Library search (including linking to the new url library.flinders.edu.au.)

What’s next?

Further functionality delivered through milestone releases this year will include the ability for students to log in using their FANWhen logged in, students will experience a highly personalised digital platform including their personal information and details of their study featuring:
