Flinders to farewell HASS leader

Noted philosopher Professor Vanessa Lemm is stepping down as the Vice President and Executive Dean of Flinders University’s College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, having accepted a similar leadership position at Deakin University.

Flinders University Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Stirling wished Professor Lemm all the best in her future endeavours.

“Vanessa joined us in January 2018  following a period of organisational restructure, as we were setting the College on a new path for growth, and we thank her for her leadership,” Professor Stirling says.

“In addition to her executive contribution, Vanessa is a widely published international expert on the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche, a pursuit which reflects her personal rigour and discipline.”

“An energetic and determined leader, we wish Vanessa every success as she builds her career,” Professor Stirling says.

Professor Lemm says she leaves after three years of enjoyable achievement.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Flinders and am so proud of what the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences has achieved since its inauguration three years ago.”

Professor Lemm will continue in her leadership role at Flinders until January 2021 when she will take up the position of Executive Dean in the Faculty of Arts and Education at Deakin University.

The process to appoint her successor will be undertaken in due course.
