Upcoming Updates to the Teaching Resource Collection

The Library will soon begin a review and redevelopment of the Teaching Resource Collection (TRC) at Central Library to ensure it continues to support contemporary teaching practice, curriculum needs, and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) across Education programs.

The TRC contains practical, ready-to-use materials that support lesson planning, classroom activities, and professional placements across early childhood, primary, and secondary education contexts. The collection includes:

  • Children’s fiction books
  • Big books and reading kits
  • Teacher support resources
  • Maps and posters
  • Educational games, toys, and activities.

As part of this project, the Library will be reviewing the existing collection and removing materials that are underutilised, out-of-date, damaged, or no longer aligned with current curriculum requirements. At the same time, we will be redeveloping the collection through the purchase of new materials that better support current teaching and learning needs, including placement preparation and classroom practice.

Importantly, the collection will remain available throughout Semester 2, with any physical changes to the collection anticipated to occur during the non-teaching period, most likely over the Christmas shutdown.

The Library will engage with key stakeholders within the Education programs to gather insights into current resource needs, identify collection gaps, and better understand teaching and learning priorities.
