International Women’s Day celebration here at Flinders on 8th March

Take part in International Women’s Day on the 8th March at the Plaza at Bedford Park. Details in post which I stole entirely from Flinders In Touch.

International Women’s Day on Wednesday 8 March will cast a celebratory spotlight on the achievements of women – and Flinders University and the Flinders University Student Association (FUSA) invite all staff and students to the Plaza at Bedford Park from 10am to join the celebrations.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) Professor Romy Lawson will be joined at our International Women’s Day event by Flinders University President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Stirling, Adelaide United A-League Women’s Captain Izzy Hodgson, Flinders University staff member and alumna Dr Brittany Johnson and Aishwarya Malik, FUSA Women’s Officer.

To enjoy the event in comfort, guests are invited to enjoy the picnic tables and rugs that will be set up throughout the Plaza – and thanks to FUSA, guests will also enjoy the talents of musicians from Him & Her, who will perform throughout the morning.

For Flinders students and staff located at our other campuses throughout SA and the NT, you can join the celebrations online by connecting here.

Event details:

  • Wednesday 8 March, at The Plaza at Bedford Park and online
  • 10-10.30am (formalities for staff and students), 10.30-11am (morning tea), 11am-2pm (FUSA activation)

    • Adelaide United A-League Women’s Captain Izzy Hodgson
    • Flinders University staff member and alumni Dr Brittany Johnson

As a fun addition to International Women’s Day and a proud declaration of the achievements of Flinders’ women involved in STEM subjects, staff and students are also invited to attend Flinders University’s annual Lab Coat Challenge, being held in the Plaza on Friday 10 March at noon.

Hosted by STEM: Women Branching Out, participants from across the University are welcome to put on a lab coat and ‘strike a pose’ in support of International Women’s Day, to send a signal about STEM’s increasing inclusivity.

To take part of the Lab Coat Challenge, register here by COB Friday 3 March.
