This 2–4 September, Flinders University is celebrating Sustainability Week. Join the sustainability crew across our campuses for three vibrant days of hands‑on workshops, inspiring events, and a whole lot of community spirit. Whether you’re curious about reducing waste, growing your own food, or making your space more wildlife‑friendly, there’s something here for you.


➡️ Tuesday, 2 September – Kick‑start Your Creativity

Bedford Park @Oasis — Get Creative with Food Scraps

Turn last night’s leftovers into your next favourite meal. In this cooking demo with KESAB, learn clever ways to reduce food waste without skimping on flavour — and taste the results for yourself.

City Campus — Flinders Community Swap Market

Swap clothes, books, and accessories while enjoying free snacks, soft‑serve, and live entertainment. It’s a treasure hunt for the planet — and for your wardrobe.


➡️ Wednesday, 3 September – Hands in the Earth, Heart in the Work

Bedford Park

  • Community Garden Working Bee — Join in some pruning, planting, and prepping to get our spring garden flourishing.
  • Make a Seed Bomb! — Craft a clay‑compost bundle with native or herb seeds, then toss it into your garden and let nature do the rest.
  • Beeswax Wrap Workshop — Learn to make your own reusable food wraps — sustainable, stylish, and endlessly useful.

  • Plastic Bottle Planters — Upcycle milk bottles into cheerful herb and veggie planters.
  • Wildlife Friendly Gardens — Design a haven for native birds, bees, and butterflies with tips from Green Adelaide.
  • 2040 Film Screening — Catch this uplifting documentary on real‑world solutions for a cleaner, fairer planet — popcorn’s on us.
