Congrats to the winners of the Insight Timer’s Member+ competition – more comps coming!!

22/7/21 – Congratulations to Monique, Natasha and Catherine who won the 3 x Insight Timer Member + subscriptions in the competition described below.

I’ll be running more of these kinds of competitions before the end of the year, so stay tuned to the blog for when they are announced. In fact, I am working on setting one up right now.

A theme of these competitions is giving you access to mental health focused tools, resources, books etc that you might not otherwise access because of cost or lack of awareness. The competitions raise awareness of what I think are some of the better tools and give you a chance to get hold of them at no out-of-pocket expense.

A shout out to the generous team at Insight Timer who offered the subscriptions as prizes. Very kind 🤗

This competition is now closed

When I ask mental health professionals what their favourite meditation/mindfulness focused apps are, Insight Timer is pretty much always in their list.

I personally use this app. I am currently doing a course with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield called Mindfulness Daily. And I know a number of my colleagues do as well.

Look how friendly they are

The reason that many people get into using this app is because the range of freely accessible content is…..well….enormous. 95000+ meditations across 200 topics. Bonkers!!

There is pre-recorded content and live content.

There is a meditation timer to help you coordinate your own self-guided meditation sessions.

They’ve got guides on how to meditate. Meditations in different languages.

You can access on your phone or on your computer.

Honestly, it is one of the biggest selections of content of this type that I’ve seen.

So if the app is free, why is there a competition to win access to it?

The answer is simple. Insight Timer have a Member+ feature that opens up more detailed and intensive course content.

Member+ also allows for things like offline listening, higher quality audio and an improved audio player.

Having a paid tier is common on many meditation apps. Paid tiers help provide income to keep the free content free as well as incentivise teachers on the platform to create more in-depth and detailed courses that enhance the user experience. .

We have 3 x Member+ subscriptions to give away thanks to the very kind folks at Insight Timer who have generously donated them. $60USD of value for free!

To go into the running to win one of these subscriptions, email your name, FAN and student number to gareth.furber@flinders.edu.au with the subject line “Insight Timer Competition“.

I’ll draw the winners on the 7th July (I’ve pushed out the date to the 14th July to give people some extra time) and notify them via email. Plenty of time to get your entry in 🙂

In the meantime, obviously check out the free content at Insight Timer and see if your next wellbeing/meditation/mental health resources is part of their catalogue.
