What’s it all about?
The Australia Versus Spain: Employment and Disability National Forum brings together international voices and local leaders to compare how disability and employment are approached across different systems — and how we can learn from each other.
Headlining the day is Marta Navarro Milián, flying in from Fundación Prodis (Madrid), who will showcase Spain’s cutting-edge, EU-influenced models for employment quotas, higher education inclusion, and workplace innovation for people with disability — including people with intellectual disability.
Expect panel sessions that explore the NDIS and Disability Employment Services (DES), featuring people with and without lived experience, service providers, sector leaders, and advocates.
Why this matters at Flinders
Flinders is proud to partner with Community Bridging Services Inc. (CBS Inc.) to offer on-campus employment advice through the University Specialist Employment Partnership (USEP).
USEP supports students who identify with disability, chronic illness, injury, mental health conditions, or neurodiversity — helping them prepare for work, connect with employers, and explore pathways after graduation.
Sascha Lemon-Spence, one of Flinders’ dedicated USEP team members and a driving force behind this forum, has supported Flinders students since 2018 and brings decades of experience to her advocacy for inclusive employment.
This forum is a chance to support inclusive practices, learn what works abroad, and contribute to shaping a more equitable employment landscape here in Australia.
