An update on prayer room access around the university

An update from the Oasis Team on prayer room access around the university

Hello OASIS friends!

We are pleased to announce that prayer rooms have now reopened.

Oasis is following guidelines and principles as outlined by the South Australian Government to limit the ability for COVID-19 to be transmitted and to spread among networks of people whilst allowing previously restricted activities to restart in a safe way.

Each prayer room has a maximum capacity (based on one person per two square metres and how many people can fit in the room ensuring 1.5m distance between everyone) as outlined below and there are also some new rules around access to ensure the safety of everyone.

We have adjusted the opening hours to allow for prayer rooms to be open as much as possible for the community. We have liaised with the Muslim student groups at Flinders to ensure we are meeting your needs as best as possible.

Prayer Mats, mukena and other equipment have been taken out of each prayer room. The equipment from Oasis, McHugh’s and Sturt has been placed in the Quiet Space (004) within Oasis. Please pick this up during business hours or after hours by requesting to security on 8201 2880. The equipment form Tonsley is with the Concierge within the building.

Conditions of Access:

  • Ensure that the amount of people in the prayer room does not exceed the maximum allowed
  • Keep 1.5m distance between yourself and all others at all times
  • BYO prayer mat, mukena & any other equipment. No sharing. No items cannot be left in this space
  • No consumption or sharing of food or drink
  • Do not attend if you are feeling unwell
  • After praying, please don’t loiter or socialise in the area
