Join Oasis Conversation Groups—relaxed, welcoming sessions where you can meet other students, practice English, explore cultures and spirituality, or simply enjoy a good chat in a friendly environment.
The team at Oasis run a range of specifically designed programs designed to help you improve your health and wellbeing.
But sometimes, all that is need is a good chat with some friendly people.
Conversation groups at Oasis (which have gone by a few different names in the past – Take a Break, Global Conversations) are relaxed, informal opportunities to meet and chat with other students.
There are a number of reasons why you might attend one of these groups:
- You’re an international student and want to practice your English language skills
- You want to learn about other cultures
- You’d like to discuss topics relating to spirituality
- You are a bit lonely and would like to make some new friends
Don’t worry if you are a bit shy. The groups are facilitated by an Oasis chaplain who creates a safe and welcoming environment.
I’ve seen first-hand how important simple social contact can be for making your university experience more enjoyable.
So if you are feeling ready to spread your wings a bit and up your social game, consider attending one of the conversation groups.
They are run on Wednesdays and Fridays from 1-2pm at the Oasis Community Centre.
