Announcements (updated February 2026)

If you landed here, there is a good chance you clicked from the Health, Counselling and Disability Services website (you cheeky thang!). Below are some recent updates and news about our services and programs. Best enjoyed with a cup of tea (my personal choice is Earl Grey)

Orientation kicks off 23rd Feb

Brace yourselves everyone. It is going to be a lot of fun!! Feeling disorientated? The Flinders Orientation website is your ground zero.

SA Pathology

Need blood taken? Don’t have a vampire friend? SA Pathology will extend their hours from Monday 2nd of March – Thursday 23rd of April 2026 – 9am-3pm.

Most wellbeing programs for 2026 have now been announced!

As per previous years, there is a lot on offer! Mailing lists, communities of practice, ambassador and volunteer roles, meditation, mental health first aid, support groups, conversation groups, nature, food and more! – https://blogs.flinders.edu.au/student-health-and-well-being/category/workshops-events-programs-resources/

Disability Services need you to know some stuff!

First, they’ve moved! They were hanging out in the basement of the Union building. But now they are back in the Student Centre Level 3, in the same place as the doctors, nurses and counsellors.

Second, for those of you who had an Access Plan last year, and need one again this year, they’d like to remind you to get in contact with Disability Services to request an Updated Access Plan. Learn more.

Third, there are scholarships available for students with disability.

Oasis had a facelift!

The Oasis Student Wellbeing Centre has had some upgrades of furniture and facilities. Whilst I can’t really put a number on it, I’m going to say it is now 39.2% more inviting! Learn more at this post.

Operating hours during the 2025/2026 holiday break

Pretty much everything is open again and campus life is returning.

Did you know we are a Bulk Billing Practice?

To support your health and budget, we bulk bill all eligible services for students (and staff) with a valid Medicare card. International students with OSHC cover also will not be charged for eligible services.

This means you do not have to pay a gap fee for:

  • GP consultations
  • Mental health treatment plans
  • STI and contraception consults
  • Chronic condition management plans

Note: Fees may still apply for non-eligible services such as allied health, skin excisions, or diagnostic tests

Better U makes it through its first year!!

Stay up-to-date with the many ways that Flinders supports student wellbeing. “Better U is your gateway to wellbeing at Flinders University, connecting you with resources, programs, and support to enhance your physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health. Our goal is to help you thrive both academically and personally”.

Learn about the students that were on placement with BetterU during Semester 2 of 2025.

Wellbeing and Performance Programs

Many of our Wellbeing and Performance Programs will be on offer again in 2026. Keep your eye on this post for information in 2026 on what will be offered. There will be lots on offer from meditation sessions, ADHD support, tackling procrastination and more.
