Student Wellbeing Ambassador applications open January 2020

The Wellbeing Ambassador Program has existed since 2018, with 25 students being trained and contributing to mental health initiatives and events at Flinders during this time. You may have seen some of them present at events like RUOK? Day – see the 2019 Ambassadors below!

HOW TO APPLY
Applications for the program open in January each year, requiring an application form to be completed and returned to Ali from OASIS on ali.barnes@flinders.edu.au
From these applications a select few are required to complete a group interview and then the final students chosen as Ambassadors for the year.

WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES

Wellbeing Ambassadors are required to complete 2 compulsory wellbeing trainings, and have opportunity to complete other training such as Mental Health First Aid, Accidental Counsellor and SafeTalk. All have Horizon Points attached and free food. Delish! These training programs will give you additional skills for promoting wellbeing as well as helping those dealing with mental health concerns to find appropriate supports.

Then it is all about having a presence at different wellbeing events throughout the year: RUOK Day, University Mental Health Day, Harmony Day etc. You get to shape what is provided on those days around the campus.

In addition there will be monthly 1 hour meetings, as well as custom events/activities that you can create and run as an ambassador team. Often these are attached to existing events (e.g. Flinders Market).

This is a great role for those with an interest in wellbeing and a desire to shape the wellbeing of other students. To learn more, contact Ali on the email above.
