Hey staff – be part of the action and share your wellbeing initiatives with the Wellbeing Initiatives Survey – your chance to showcase the positive impact you have on staff and student wellbeing at Flinders University!
Flinders has a Whole of University Wellbeing Strategic Plan 2022-2025. You can imbibe it here. In short, we’re seeking to continually invest in and improve the wellbeing of staff and students through a coordinated set of supports, services, programs and resources 🙂
Bringing that plan to life is the Wellbeing Working Group, of which I am a member.
One of the key tasks being undertaken by that group is to map all the existing wellbeing initiatives happening around the university. Before we set off on an adventure of doing new things, we need to take stock of the already excellent range of supports here at Flinders.
That is where the Wellbeing Initiatives Survey comes in.
The Wellbeing Initiatives Survey is open to all staff who, as part of their research, teaching or administrative roles, does something to improve the wellbeing of students and/or staff.
It could be as simple as organising a regular morning tea, through to delivering a whole topic with a wellbeing focus or doing research with wellbeing implications.
And we aren’t just talking about mental health focused stuff here.
The definition of wellbeing used in the strategic plan is broad and encapsulates 5 areas:
If you do anything to enhance one or more of these 5 areas in your work, we want to hear about it 😊
The survey can be found here: https://qualtrics.flinders.edu.au/jfe/form/SV_7Og99Y8n1jFZx30
You can include multiple initiatives in the same sitting.
The original correspondance about this survey can be found below.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
And I’d like to give a shout-out to Jess, who isn’t with our group anymore, but whose hard work set the scene for this survey and the actions of the Wellbeing Working Group
You are receiving this email because you and/or your area play an important role in the wellbeing of Flinders University students.
The Flinders University Whole-of-University Wellbeing Strategic Plan 2022-2025 embodies a comprehensive approach to fostering student and staff wellbeing. In the plan, wellbeing is achieved through optimisation of five key dimensions:
- Connection, Community, and Identity
- Self-Determination: Agency, Purpose, Growth
- Intellectual, Reflective and Contemplative Life
- Physical and Mental Health
- Safety, Shelter, and Finances
As part of the Strategic Plan’s implementation, the University is performing a mapping process to uncover the important contributions already being made to these five dimensions of student wellbeing at Flinders.
We are requesting Flinders staff who are involved in a wellbeing service or who are involved in wellbeing projects, initiatives, campaigns, programs, committees, sessions, tools, training and the like to complete the form below:
Capturing wellbeing initiatives at Flinders University Qualtrics Form
This form will take approximately 20 minutes to complete, depending on the extent to which you provide detail and the number of initiatives you record. Please feel free to nominate a team leader or relevant staff member(s) to fill this out. The deadline for submissions is 15 September 2023.
If you have any questions about the wellbeing dimensions or submission process, please contact Jodie Zada, Director Student Life at Jodie.zada@flinders.edu.au.
Our Flinders University Wellbeing Mission establishes a university-wide holistic approach to wellbeing, providing an environment for work and study that supports wellbeing, equipping staff and students with the knowledge and skills to cultivate wellbeing across their lives and support others to do the same.
Participation will ensure your area’s contribution in this space is listed in a whole-of-University approach to wellbeing.
