Welcome! (or welcome back!)

Welcome to Flinders! Whether you’re diving into Orientation or easing into the year, find your path, embrace what feels right, and know Better U is here for your wellbeing journey!

🎆🥳🎉 Welcome to Orientation Week 2025 @ Flinders University! 🎆🥳🎉

I’m at the city campus today, which I suspect is a little quieter than Bedford Park. Flinders is actually many campuses (campi?) nowadays, so wherever you’re starting your journey, I hope you feel warmly welcomed!

And if you’re returning for another year, welcome back.

As a natural introvert (I was just listening to a podcast with Susan Cain, the unofficial leader of introverts), I’ll admit the sudden buzz of life on campus can feel a bit overwhelming. But it’s also exciting. A university truly comes to life when students and staff are bustling about, getting things done.

I remember my own uni years fondly, which probably explains why I’m still happily here. My simple wish is that you have as rewarding a university experience as I did. That doesn’t mean I want you to have the exact same experience. Mine was pretty quiet, if I’m honest. Looking back, I could have embraced the social side more.

But I found my happy path through uni, and I hope you find yours too.

Modern Orientation is a well-oiled machine—activities, exhibits, tours, student clubs, and events. If that’s your jam, dive in! If it feels overwhelming, that’s OK too. Think of Orientation as a glimpse into the full operating system of a modern university, from learning about your topics to discovering every student club vying for your attention. (There’s usually free food, which never hurts!)

👉 Quick plug: My corner of the university, Better U, just launched this Orientation—it’s as new here as you might be!

Better U showcases all the wellbeing-oriented services, programs, resources, and supports available to you as a student. Whether it’s a mindfulness course, a GP, or something in between, we’ve got you covered.

For now, just focus on getting set up for your topics. But if you ever need a wellbeing boost, know that we’re here to help.

Alright, you didn’t come here to read long posts—go enjoy the celebrations!

Hope to see you around sometime 😊
