Crossfit

Crossfit

I was on the Health, Counselling and Disability stall yesterday for orientation.

Around lunchtime when I was just thinking about food, a buff dude came up and gave me a Crossfit pamphlet. Perhaps he saw how many chins I had, or the strain on the chair I was sitting on.

Regardless, I thought it worth promoting here, as I have generally only ever heard good things about Crossfit.

The main things I hear is that Crossfit is an excellent fitness program in itself (combining weights, gymnastics, and cardio) but also a very supportive community of individuals who help each other achieve their fitness goals.

So if fitness is on your goal list, alongside making new friends, perhaps the Crossfit Flinders Group is for you. They are a student-group, affiliated with the gym that have fitness on the mind.

Visit their website – http://crossfitflinders.com/

Visit their Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/CrossfitFlinders/

Cost for a student is $60 per month.

You can get a free trial session to see if you like it.

There are classes Monday to Saturday, and they are held in the Gym at the Bedford Park Campus.

  1. Thanks for the plug Gareth. I joined Crossfit Flinders around the beginning of last semester and sincerely believe it has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I used to have a membership at a conventional gym but was finding it increasingly difficult to stay motivated and consistent. Also, my experience with such generic gyms is that they aren’t always the friendliest of places. By contrast, my experience at Crossfit has been (and continues to be) highly motivating, and a big part of this is the comradery amongst our members. Our coaches are great and the classes are small enough that you can get the individual attention you may require. Workouts are ever-changing and always challenging. For anyone who is interested in taking their fitness to new levels (regardless of what level you’re at now), I strongly encourage you to give it a try.
