A timely reminder of the value of the Flinders Community Market

Discover the Flinders Community Market, a joint initiative by OASIS and FUSA, offering free and affordable food every Thursday to support students, address cost-of-living challenges, promote healthy eating, and foster a sense of community on campus.

The Guardian just published an article on the challenges international students in Melbourne are facing with costs of living, particularly food and accommodation. We’re mindful that there are similar experiences for students here in South Australia.

Thus, it’s a good reminder that we have a great resource right here on campus: the Flinders Community Market!

The Flinders Community Market is a joint initiative by OASIS and FUSA to provide free and low-cost food to all students. You can find fresh fruits, vegetables, bread, and pantry items every Thursday from 11 AM to 1 PM at the OASIS Common Room. No need to register or book, just show up with a bag and grab what you need. Many staple items are free, the rest very low cost.

The market is not only a way to save money and eat healthy, but also a way to connect with other students and staff who volunteer at the market. You can also earn points for the Flinders Horizon Award by volunteering yourself. Just email oasis@flinders.edu.au if you’re interested.

So what are you waiting for? Head over to https://oasis.flinders.edu.au/flinders-community-market/ to learn more about the market and see some photos of the delicious food on offer. And don’t forget to visit the market next Thursday and every Thursday during semester. Trust me, your stomach and your wallet will thank you!
