Celebrate National Volunteer Week by connecting communities through volunteering at Flinders Oasis or finding opportunities near you!
Did you know it’s National Volunteer Week?
This year, from May 19th to 25th, Australia is celebrating the incredible contribution of volunteers with the theme “Connecting Communities.” It’s a chance to recognise the millions of Australians who generously give their time and skills to make a difference in their communities.
Volunteering Australia, who coordinate National Volunteer Week, are a great resource for all things volunteering. They provide resources to help organisations celebrate and acknowledge volunteers, offer volunteer-specific gifts for purchase as a token of appreciation, and importantly, they help connect people with volunteering opportunities near them through their website.
Volunteering is a powerful way to connect with others, support causes you care about, and contribute to a stronger, more vibrant society. It’s also a fantastic way to develop new skills, gain experience, and boost your own well-being.
Right here at Flinders University, you have a wonderful opportunity to get involved and make a local impact through the Oasis Volunteer Program.
The Oasis Volunteer Program offers various roles where you can contribute to student wellbeing and gain valuable experience. Whether it’s assisting at the Oasis Student Wellbeing Centre, helping at the Flinders Community Market, facilitating Flinders Mates sessions, or supporting campus events like R U OK Day, there’s a role that might be perfect for you.
Getting involved with the Oasis Volunteer Program not only allows you to connect with fellow students and staff but also offers great benefits. You can access training and development, build confidence and skills, and be part of a supportive community.
Interested in becoming an Oasis volunteer?
You can find out more and express your interest by filling out the form mentioned in the Oasis Volunteer Program blog post, visiting Oasis in person, or emailing oasis@flinders.edu.au.
Let’s celebrate National Volunteer Week by recognizing the power of volunteering and exploring how you can connect communities right here at Flinders through the Oasis Volunteer Program, or by finding other opportunities near you via the Volunteering Australia website!
