Be a Better Human: Relaunched and Ready to Create a Safer Flinders!

FUSA relaunches the Be a Better Human campaign empowering Flinders students to champion consent, respect, and empathy for a safer campus!

Flinders University Student Association (FUSA) has relaunched the award-winning Be a Better Human (BABH) campaign! This student-led initiative is putting a vital spotlight on critical issues like consent, sexual harassment, sexual assault, bystander education, respectful relationships, and providing information on reporting and support options for all university students.

The campaign is called ‘Be a Better Human’ because it goes beyond simply avoiding harmful behaviour; it’s about encouraging everyone in our campus community to strive for self-improvement and support one another. This initiative prompts us all to reflect on how we can better ourselves and positively impact those around us.

What’s New?

The relaunched campaign features updated messaging and a fresh new look, including a series of new promotional materials. The revamped website, babh.edu.au, is now the central hub for resources and information related to the campaign. FUSA is rolling out this extensive campaign across digital platforms, physical spaces, activations, media, and events. The campaign was developed by Flinders University students, for students, to reflect the campus culture and what students believe everyone needs to appreciate: consent, respect, and empathy.

Key Messages:

The updated campaign focuses on five core messages:

  • An introduction to How to Be a Better Human.
  • Understanding consent (Consent vs Without Consent).
  • It’s OK to say NO, empowering students to establish their boundaries.
  • Be a Legend and Call It Out, encouraging bystanders to intervene safely.
  • Information on Reporting and Supporting Services.

Get Involved and Make a Difference!

The relaunch kicked off with an all-student email and has been promoted through PING announcements, social media, and digital screens. Engaging events have already taken place across the Bedford, City, Sturt, and Tonsley campuses, featuring BABH stalls with educational resources, merchandise, activities, and more.

The ultimate hope for the BABH campaign is to foster a safer campus culture where the core values of Consent, Respect, and Empathy are the standard for everyone at Flinders, both students and staff. These values are fundamental to creating a positive and safe environment for all.

We encourage you to explore the Be a Better Human website to learn more and access resources. You can also find campaign materials available for download. Let’s all commit to being better humans and contribute to a safer, more respectful Flinders community.
