COVID-19 Mental Wellbeing Telephone Support Line

I mentioned last week that Beyond Blue had set up a COVID-19 Mental Wellbeing Support Service.

They aren’t the only ones though.

A colleague of mine sent through details of a new Support Line being run by Skylight, who run the very useful Lived Experience Telephone Support Service.

Details are below, taken from the website.

One thing that characterises this new support line (as well as the Lived Experience Telephone Support Service) that is different from other support lines is that you get to speak to someone with a lived experience of mental ill health.

Some individuals with mental illness appreciate the opportunity to speak to someone who has gone through a similar or related experience.

We also know that the various changes brought about because of Coronavirus have led some people to experience a resurgence of their mental health problems.

This service provides another tool for those people to seek support.

It is clear that the impact of COVID-19 is causing significant distress to many in the community. In response to this, Skylight Mental Health is offering the COVID-19 Mental Health Peer Support Line and Web Chat to provide mental health support during these unprecedented times.

This service will be available for all South Australians – whether you live in Adelaide or regional South Australia – from 5:00pm – 11:30pm,  7 days per week and is delivered by peers who have a mental health lived experience. We are available to provide a listening ear, COVID-19 related information, as well as connect you with other appropriate services as needed.

If you or someone you know could benefit from mental health support due to COVID-19, please call COVID-19 Mental Health Peer Support Line on 1800 02 2020
